4th Biosyst EU meeting
Aug. 17, 2026 - Aug. 19, 2026, Uppsala Uppsala University in collaboration with the Swedish Systematics Association are happy to announce the 4th BioSyst EU meeting: 17-19th of August 2026, in Uppsala Sweden. The three day meeting will focus on talks and workshops on the topic of systematics and strengthening the collaboration and networks of systematists in Europe. Historical sites where Linneaus worked and lived will be visited and there is an option to stay also to Thursday the 20th for further excursions in this historical area of Sweden. There will also be an early career meeting on Sunday the 16th for students and early career researchers to get to know each other. |

ERIDOB2026 - 15th conference of European Researchers in Didactics of Biology
Aug. 24, 2026 - Aug. 28, 2026, Ljubljana We are delighted to welcome you to ERIDOB2026, the 15th conference of European Researchers in Didactics of Biology, in Ljubljana, Slovenia, August 24th-28th 2026. ERIDOB aims to bring together researchers in didactics of biology from around the world to share and discuss their research and the results of their work. The association was founded in 1986 by Pierre Clément and Horst Bayrhuber and has since organized a conference every two years. It is a great honor for us to hold the most important conference that we have in Europe on Biological Education. We will meet in the historical Roman city of Ljubljana in Slovenia. In 1991 Slovenia appeared on the global political map as an independent country. However, Slovenians laid foundations for statehood more than a thousand years ago. The country’s extraordinary geographical position played an important role in this process, and the diverse landscape has marked the country’s rich natural and cultural heritage, inspired the creativity of its inhabitants, and produced a number of exceptional individuals. We will be hosted by the University of Ljubljana Faculty of Education, which has more than 75 years of tradition. In the current period, which is marked by both a strong expectation from science to meet the challenges of our era and by the discrediting of scientific results, the theme of the ERIDOB 2026 Conference will be “Biology education paving the way for our common future“. We are confident that it will be an excellent opportunity to initiate in-depth discussions with other scholars in the field of biology didactics. We are looking forward to meeting you in Ljubljana! PS: In line with the decision that has been taken at the general assembly in 2022, the official language of the conference will be English. |

118th Annual Meeting of the German Zoological Society (DZG)
Sept. 7, 2026 - Sept. 11, 2026, Münster From 7 to 11 September 2026, the University of Münster will host the 118th Annual Meeting of the German Zoological Society (DZG), which will bring together zoologists from around the world, spanning various taxa, methods, and disciplines. The event will provide a forum for researchers at all career stages to share and discuss their latest findings in zoological research. The programme will include plenary talks, poster sessions, contributed and keynote talks, satellite symposia, a public talk, and a DZG Scientific Award talk, as well as a conference dinner at the Meranti Hall at Münster Zoo. |

Boosting Biodata Bootcamp 2026
Sept. 15, 2026 - Sept. 17, 2026, Aachen This year, NFDI4Microbiota will host its Annual Conference for the first time jointly with other consortia of the NFDI Biodata Interest Group: FAIRagro, DataPLANT, NFDI4Biodiversity, and NFDI4BIOIMAGE. The Boosting Biodata Bootcamp (B3 Conference) will take place from 15–17 September 2026 at RWTH Aachen University. The aim of this joint event is to train the biological research community in research data management and data analysis, while providing inspiring insights into how these skills contribute to high-quality scientific research. We invite life scientists — from laboratory-based to field researchers — as well as bioinformaticians, software developers, and local data stewards to share their FAIR tools and high-quality datasets, and to connect, exchange ideas, and discuss with experts in the field. Participants will have the opportunity to learn how to use our services and make their data and tools FAIR. 159. Jahresversammlung der DOG
Sept. 16, 2026 - Sept. 20, 2026, Mainz Die Jahresversammlung ist das zentrale Treffen für Ornitholog:innen im deutschsprachigen Raum – und weit mehr als eine reine Fachkonferenz. Hier treffen sich Wissenschaft, Praxis und Begeisterung für Vögel. Neben Fachvorträgen, Diskussionen und der Mitgliederversammlung bietet das Programm viel Raum für Austausch und Geselligkeit: ein Begrüßungsabend zum Ankommen, Posterpräsentationen bei Bier und Brez’n, öffentliche Abendvorträge, ein festlicher Gesellschaftsabend und ein spezielles Netzwerktreffen für junge Ornitholog:innen. Ein Höhepunkt sind die Exkursionen, die von regionalen Expert:innen geführt werden und in die spannendsten Vogel-Lebensräume des ausrichtenden Bundeslandes führen. 11th Dresden Meeting Insect Phylogeny
Sept. 23, 2026 - Sept. 25, 2026, Dresden The Dresden Meetings on Insect Phylogeny are dedicated to a broad variety of topics concerning the phylogeny of insects. This includes both the interordinal and intraordinal levels, both morphological and molecular work, and both extant and fossil taxa, as well as occasional methodological contributions. The 11th Dresden Meeting on Insect Phylogeny (2026) will not have a particular focus but will generally deal with frontline topics of phylogenetic research in insects. There will be ca. 30 talks presented by high-profile specialists, plus many poster presentations. The language of the Meeting is English. |

2nd International Conference on Human-Wildlife Conflict and Coexistence
March 2, 2027 - March 4, 2027, Bangkok The IUCN SSC Human-Wildlife Conflict and Coexistence Specialist Group is convening the 2nd International Conference on Human-Wildlife Conflict and Coexistence in Bangkok, Thailand, from 2 to 4 March 2027. This global forum will once again bring together a wide range of participants from governments, NGOs, intergovernmental organisations, Indigenous and local communities, the private and development sectors, and academic institutions from around the world. The conference will provide a platform for interdisciplinary and cross-sector dialogue to foster joint learning, collaboration, and science-policy bridging for human-wildlife coexistence, a globally urgent priority under the UN Convention on Biological Diversity's Global Biodiversity Framework. |

18th Deep-Sea Biology Symposium
April 23, 2028 - April 28, 2028, Bergen The 18th DSBS will be held in 2028 in Bergen, Norway! This proposal is a collaboration between the University of Bergen (UiB), the Institute of Marine Research (IMR), and the Norwegian Research Center (NORCE), all local key institutions in deep-sea biology research, collectively focussing on biodiversity, ecology, and conservation through large-scale projects. The Bergen deep-sea community recently started the Bergen Bathysphere, a local network also including associates across Norway (including Universities in Oslo, Tromsø ++), focusing on collaboration between organizations. The Bergen Bathysphere includes a mix of early-career and established deep-sea scientists and professionals who are all keen to help make this conference a success. |

13th International Congress of Plant Pathology (ICPP)
Aug. 19, 2028 - Aug. 25, 2028, Gold Coast It is with pleasure that we invite you to attend the 13th International Congress of Plant Pathology (ICPP) during 19-25 August 2028 on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia. It is predicted that the global population will reach 9.7 billion people by 2050, placing intense pressure on food supply chains. Half of the world’s population will reside in the tropics due to rapid population growth in this region, and tropical climes will have expanded poleward due to global warming. It is therefore apt that the ICPP in 2028 will be held for the very first time in a subtropical zone. We are planning a diverse and stimulating program of talks, workshops, technical tours, and social networking events. Think of any crop and it is likely to be grown in Australia – from apples to mangoes and wheat to sugarcane. There will be congress sessions that cater for every plant pathology interest. August is the perfect time to visit the Gold Coast, with average maximum daily temperatures at a comfortable 22 °C (72 °F) and the skies blue and sunny. There are a multitude of hotel and dining options within walking distance of the Convention Centre to suit every budget. Take a one-hour drive and immerse yourself in world heritage rainforest with some of the most ancient fauna and flora in the world. The Gold Coast in also a launching pad for the southern end of the Great Barrier Reef, just a short plane ride away. Australians are famous for organizing world class events. XXI International Botanical Congress
July 21, 2029 - July 28, 2029, Kapstadt The South African botanical community welcomes the opportunity to host the XXI International Botanical Congress (IBC) in Cape Town in August 2029. It is long overdue for the IBC to come to Africa, as this conference has never been hosted on the African continent in its almost 160-year history. It is therefore an honour to welcome botanists from across the world to Cape Town, South Africa, one of the most culturally diverse cities in Africa. Hosting this conference in Africa provides all participants, but particularly Africans, with a global platform for meaningful academic and professional interaction, engagement and knowledge transfer. The conference in South African will follow the tradition of IBC to cover all of the diverse subject areas of botanical science and bring together the diverse global botanical community. Not only is South Africa rich in cultural diversity, but it is also home to three of the world’s biodiversity hotspots, two found in the Greater Cape Floristic Region. Cape Town, situated at the southwestern tip of Africa, is located in this unique botanically diverse area, and offers a spectacular venue for the IBC. The city boasts exceptional beauty, including one of the most spectacular botanical gardens in the world (Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens), as well as one of the Seven Wonders of the World, Table Mountain and boasts many other tourist attractions that will appeal to IBC delegates. The rich flora in the Western Cape is dominated by fynbos, boasting a spectacular ca. 9500 plant species of which 68% are endemic. This flora has fascinated naturalists since its formal documentation by European explorers in the sixteenth century. Since then, and following the establishment of a port for seafarers in the late 1600s, there has been a fascinating history of documentation and description of the flora right up to the present day. South Africa boasts a long history of botanical research in all fields, driven by a number of universities and research institutions. We look forward to welcoming you to our beautiful city. |
